Hello! I thought i might share with you today a lovely mani i did last night using two great polishes by my favourite indie brand Taras Talons! I used my ABSOLUTE favourite blue which is called ‘Curacao’ that i bought some months ago. I then topped it with a recent purchase, ‘Unicorn Stick’ which is a very very sheer white with greenish blue squares ( think toothpaste!) and white and hot pink hexes. The use of this over the blue polish made it almost a minty green colour but it still clearly blue. The white base in this polish is so sheer that i can layer it over almost any colour and instead of being white, it just slightly lightens the colour beneath giving it a lovely shimmer.
If you’re not aware of this already, Taras Talons makes one-off polishes, so unfortunately neither of these are available to purchase 😦 ( because i got my greedy mitts on them first muahahaha). However if you browse Taras store on Etsy she has a multitude of polishes and nail art supplies which gets updated every Sunday! I’m aware that she currently has some polishes with Mickey Mouse glitters in them, so be sure to check them out! But for now, here is a swatch of my Taras Talons mani 🙂
I saw a great mani by Rachel over at Racho’s Nail Love. It was green, yellow and red stripes with a black crackle effect over the top. I thought it looked awesome and decided to recreate it using pink, blue and green pastel shades with white crackle! I decided i was quite pleased with my stripes so thought i’d show off my mani BEFORE the crackle effect was added as well 🙂
Warning, picture heavy 😉
These were my three stripe colours. From L-R: Essie Navigate Her, OPI Pink Friday and Taras Talons Curacao.
Here are my nails when i had finished the stripes and applied a top coat.
Now, here it is with crackle! The polish i used was a white Barry M Nail Effects Polish
When finished, i later went back and added a matte top coat over two coats of Seche Vite, i decided the shiny look wasn’t quite working. It looked much better matte 🙂
I’m a huge Roy Orbison fan so when i found a polish by Charlie based on the song Pretty Woman, i just knew i had to get it! After waiting for it to be restocked i finally snagged it up! This is a beautiful glitter topper, it has light and bright pink flower glitters, light pink squares and white hexagonal circle shapes. I love my pink nail polish so i loved this as soon as i saw it! I have been known on several occasions to buy nail polish due to it’s name alone…*embarrassed face* however with this one it was worth it! I decided to layer it over Nicole By OPI ‘Up and Kim-ing Pink’ ( from the Kardashian Kollection).
Hey, being the silly busy bee i am, i haven’t had a chance to show you a relatively new UK Indie Brand. UK indies are popping up like crazy, yay! For those of you who hate to pay ridiculous shipping fees for indies from places like the US and Australia, these little brands are a great way to get more polish for you money! I have included on several occasions the UK brands ‘Pocket Money Polishes’ and ‘Taras Talons’ and decided it was time to give Nail Lacquer UK a try! There are a few more UK indies i am yet to jump on, but my next Indie Brand review will likely be Nelly Polish.
Anyway, back to the topic in hand. Nail Lacquer UK is a brand which sells on Etsy, and includes lots of the sorts of thing us nail addicts like, including glitter, glitter and more glitter. I ordered a 10ml Grab Bag from the store as i was spoilt for choice for what to get, so decided to surprise myself. I LOVE the polish i received, a lovely sheer off white with small blue glitters and medium-large sized blue circle glitters which are gorgeous! My order also came with some nail art bows which match the polish perfectly, which i thought was a lovely personal touch! The name of this polish is ‘Snow Dreams’ and feels really cool and wintery!
I finally managed to get my hands on I Want Candy when it was restocked! This one seems to go faaast! This is from the Glitter Babies Singles Collection. I’m also pleased to say that this is a UK indie 😀
I tried it on over Barry M Lychee, i need to try it over black, i imagine the glitter would really stand out!
I tried it over a nude as my way of going in for the Neons and Nudes trend.
I have been dying for a nice nude/beige, one that is almost skin coloured. I have wanted to buy OPI- My Vampire Is Buff since it came out this spring. Its likely that i still will but i’m definitely happy with Lychee as a cheap alternative! For the price i think it’s great! Goes on smoother than some of the OPI’s i own.
This is on its own with no top coat! Look at the shiiiine!
I love the Barry M Gelly’s. I’ve already swatched Blue Grape, and have a few more to add to show you guys! I would love to own the entire collection as the formula is great!
Today i want to share you with a swatch i did about a week ago. With the lovely weather i thought it was about time i started wearing some lovely coral and orange shades. I decided to wear my favourite Summer shade: OPI Call Me Gwenever from The Amazing Spiderman collection released last year. Along with that, i added a diagonal gold stripe on each ring finger using Tara’s Talons Goblin Gold!
