Hello! I thought i might share with you today a lovely mani i did last night using two great polishes by my favourite indie brand Taras Talons! I used my ABSOLUTE favourite blue which is called ‘Curacao’ that i bought some months ago. I then topped it with a recent purchase, ‘Unicorn Stick’ which is a very very sheer white with greenish blue squares ( think toothpaste!) and white and hot pink hexes. The use of this over the blue polish made it almost a minty green colour but it still clearly blue. The white base in this polish is so sheer that i can layer it over almost any colour and instead of being white, it just slightly lightens the colour beneath giving it a lovely shimmer.
If you’re not aware of this already, Taras Talons makes one-off polishes, so unfortunately neither of these are available to purchase 😦 ( because i got my greedy mitts on them first muahahaha). However if you browse Taras store on Etsy she has a multitude of polishes and nail art supplies which gets updated every Sunday! I’m aware that she currently has some polishes with Mickey Mouse glitters in them, so be sure to check them out! But for now, here is a swatch of my Taras Talons mani 🙂
I saw a great mani by Rachel over at Racho’s Nail Love. It was green, yellow and red stripes with a black crackle effect over the top. I thought it looked awesome and decided to recreate it using pink, blue and green pastel shades with white crackle! I decided i was quite pleased with my stripes so thought i’d show off my mani BEFORE the crackle effect was added as well 🙂
Warning, picture heavy 😉
These were my three stripe colours. From L-R: Essie Navigate Her, OPI Pink Friday and Taras Talons Curacao.
Here are my nails when i had finished the stripes and applied a top coat.
Now, here it is with crackle! The polish i used was a white Barry M Nail Effects Polish
When finished, i later went back and added a matte top coat over two coats of Seche Vite, i decided the shiny look wasn’t quite working. It looked much better matte 🙂
Hey, being the silly busy bee i am, i haven’t had a chance to show you a relatively new UK Indie Brand. UK indies are popping up like crazy, yay! For those of you who hate to pay ridiculous shipping fees for indies from places like the US and Australia, these little brands are a great way to get more polish for you money! I have included on several occasions the UK brands ‘Pocket Money Polishes’ and ‘Taras Talons’ and decided it was time to give Nail Lacquer UK a try! There are a few more UK indies i am yet to jump on, but my next Indie Brand review will likely be Nelly Polish.
Anyway, back to the topic in hand. Nail Lacquer UK is a brand which sells on Etsy, and includes lots of the sorts of thing us nail addicts like, including glitter, glitter and more glitter. I ordered a 10ml Grab Bag from the store as i was spoilt for choice for what to get, so decided to surprise myself. I LOVE the polish i received, a lovely sheer off white with small blue glitters and medium-large sized blue circle glitters which are gorgeous! My order also came with some nail art bows which match the polish perfectly, which i thought was a lovely personal touch! The name of this polish is ‘Snow Dreams’ and feels really cool and wintery!
The second Barry M Gelly polish i tried out was Plum. I’m not quite sure if i like this colour on me but i did like the formula and i’m sure i will find a way to use it again! I used some cute little glue-on pearls from Taras Talons who do nail art supplies now! ( check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Tarastalons?section_id=14011746)
I love what they add to a boring mani ( which to me, is a mani without glitter!)
My camera didn’t capture the colour very well. It is much more purple than shown and not quite as dark. Hope you like 🙂
As we are fast approaching July i thought i would take today to show you guys some great indie fourth of july inspired polishes! Born and raised in the UK, the fourth of july isnt a holiday i celebrate which is quite naughty considering i am half American! Naturally, these polishes all carry a red white and blue theme, so if you’re a fellow Brit you can also use these to celebrate your own national pride!
Today i’m going to show you another awesome indie nail brand called The Hungry Asian. These polishes are super cute and summery! The bottles are adorable, especially for the minis, which come in a cute little heart shaped bottle! These polishes are very colorful with The Hungry Asian being known for their professional looking finish polishes, super cute colors and and lovely glitters. If you just buy one indie polish, buy one from The Hungry Asian. Here are some of my favorites:
