New Neon Collection by Lush Lacquer

As promised, i am going to show you the new collection by Lush Lacquer! Few collections get me really really excited but this one has! I can honestly say that i would wear every polish in this collection. They are beautiful and summery and of course-neon!

I won’t show you all of them, as there lots and lots but i will show you a few of them!

Image

Neon Splish Splash

The picture doesn’t do it justice- swatches are needed to really see this beauty. It would look brilliant over a light green, blue or white. This is one of the new polishes i intend to add to my collection! Nothing beats a glitter topper- and with the amount of blue polishes i have this will really liven up some of my manicures.

Image

Orange-U-Sweet

This is exactly like the previous polish but in orange…this one really does have a summery vibe and would look great over white for a pedicure. Makes me think of tropical fruit juice.

Image

Blurple

Again, this is similar to the first, However the first consists of blue and green glitters whereas this one consists of blue and purple ones- hence the name blurple!

( There was also a pink version called ‘Chicks Rule’ however i was unable to obtain a picture- see here: http://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/154620713/new-neon-chicks-rule-custom-blended-neon?ref=shop_home_active )

Image

Born 2 b Pretty

I really like the colour of this one, i think the glitters really work in harmony with the base colour. It is a little less in your face than some of the others in this collection but still bright and beautiful!

This is only scratching the surface of the new polishes available but i think they are so gorgeous and awe inspiring that you should go check them out yourself at the Lush Lacquer store!

Here is what i’m picking up:

Splish Splash
Rosies Posies
It’s a Breeze
Neon Monster Mash
Glowsticks

If i could i would buy at least 3 more!

Don’t get a headache from staring at these beauties all day 😉

Current Indie Favourites #2 I Love Nail Polish

Hello again! A few days ago i posted my first installment of my current indie favorites( found here: https://indienailblog.wordpress.com/2013/06/23/current-indie-favourites-1-digital-nails/), so today it is time to show you another of my favorite indie brands! Introducing the perfectly named I Love Nail Polish or ILNP/I<3NP for short 🙂 My favourite thing about this brand has to be the professional quality, and how this is beautifully mixed with indie shades. You feel like you’re getting the best of both worlds, a high quality salon polish and a unique indie glitter/shade.

Here is the owner Barbra’s description of ILNP:

‘Founded in 2012, ILNP started out as a hobby that quickly turned into a unique way to express a passion for detail, color, and all things fashion.’

Barbra has come really far with ILNP in a just a year! This is one of those of those indie brands i can see going mainstream/retail at some point and being place high up with the likes of A England etc. Here are some BEAUTIFUL photos of ILNP polishes:

Image

What the Funk

I decided to show you 4 pictures, all showing different types of polishes available by ILNP. The first, ‘Sniffany’ is one of many creams. The second, ‘Glass Slipper’ is a glitter topper. The third, ‘Army Surplus’ is a holo, and last but not least the fourth, ‘What the Funk’ is a glitter with a cream base. ILNP also do glitter jelly polishes i believe.

ILNP are well known mostly for their incredible holographic polishes. I have seen a ton of holos by indie polish makers but none compare ( besides perhaps those in the Digital Nails store). The amount oh holographic pigment in these polishes is insane, and offers a sophisticated but fun look! A few of these holos are actually very subtle and office friendly including ‘Cashmere Sweater’, ‘A Touch of Mint’ and ‘Down Comforter’.

I always get a great giggle thinking ‘ I love, I Love Nail Polish’ but i really really do. I own just one polish by them atm, and it was the last one made. Barbra helped me to find it on the website ( i was searching on etsy) and i managed to scoop it up! I’m so glad i did as it is BEAUTIFUL. It is a glitter topper called ‘Don’t Trample My Roses’. I’m wearing it on my toes at the moment over OPI You’re Such a Budapest! ( trying the nail envy 2 week treatment on my poor bare fingernails) and it’s just so pretty! Here are some pictures:

Image

Image

Applied to a false nail

My toes look VERY similar to the middle swatch which is entirely coincidence! I just decided on a lilac base to make the colour pop…it was between lilac and light pink.

Here’s hoping i inspired you to go check out ILNP. If you do want to, here are some details:

Etsy Store: http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ILoveNP?ref=seller_info

( Note: if you find something on the website or etsy store which is sold out then shoot Barba a message to see if its in stock on the other site. E.g if it’s not available on etsy ask if it is on the online store- or just check it out yourself!)

Now i’m going to leave you with a gorgeous image of the print used on the ILNP tissue paper for packing.

New Changes to Lush Lacquer and Starrily

Hello again guys! I’ve let a few blogger friends i know already about this but figured my followers would like to know as well :). It’ kind of like Christmas for me right now as Starrily have reduced their shipping to UK from £10 to £7.99 which is a really good price! Prices have also changed so each polish is now £5.99 i cannot be sure how much they were priced at before but i’m pretty     sure that they were £1 more expensive. This £2 reduction in shipping and £1 reduction in polishes is awesome! It makes it a lot easier for us Brits to get our hands on some gorgeous Starrily polishes! I’ve always been reluctant due to shipping costs to order from them but i can see myself picking up a bunch now! Here are a few pictures of Starrily polishes!

Lush Lacquer are currently having problems with their etsy store- it has completely vanished off of the website! Which is awful for them for business as they have just release a brand new neon collection. Unfortunately i can’t show you some picture but when the site is back up and running i will give it its own post. I plan on picking up 5 mini bottles…which bring me to my point…they have now reopened international shipping! Yay! This is at buyers risk however so if something gets lost in the post- that’s it.

Go over to their Facebook and give them some support, and check out their polishes in their pictures whilst you wait!

These are due for release in July i think…i don’t know about you but i’m really excited to try out these new scents! I always have a mini size with me and i think all of the scents smell wonderful. My favourites are Coconut and Melon and Peach. At the moment i’m using Peach and it’s a lovely light fresh smell. I think what makes these so popular is how light and quick to absorb they are. A lot of hand creams can be quite greasy and thick- something AvoJuice really isn’t!

Really looking forward to these being released, and as soon as they are i’m gonna snap up a mini bottle of each to try and review!

Monday Nail Mail

Morning! (or afternoon if you’re international) I was very excited with my nail mail this morning, although it did look a bit boring, ha! However the majority of it is all ‘essential’ stuff. I was very pleased to find that my replacement polish from Digital Nails arrived ( i had some issues with glitter in the last one, so Raphaelle kindly resent free of charge- now that’s customer service!) of ‘Oh,Fionna’. I will probably use the one where i was having issues as a back up, in case i run out. However i don’t think i have EVER come to the end of a bottle of nail polish…(except top coats). Here are a few picture of ‘Oh,Fionna’ in case you’re wondering what it looks like.(Broken camera, still relying on website images)

Image

Image

Swatch by Digital Nails

I may end investing in a nude polish to go under this as it is slightly sheerer than shown in the images. I’m thinking Taras Talons’ ‘Dolly’.

I also picked up the much raved about Seche Vite Dry Fast Top coat. After looking at reviews and never coming across ANY bad ones, the publicity it has recieved in beauty magazines, and the number of beauty bloggers that swear by it i decided it had to be mine. I used to use the OPI Rapid Dry but i found it went ‘gloopy’ really quickly and even before that, even a medium coat would peel off and felt really ‘plastic-y’ ( more of my made up words). I’ve already tried it out over a manicure i purposefully didn’t top coat and it’s made the world of difference! It does dry very quick and really brightens the colour underneath giving the nail a lovely shine. This is something that will become a staple for me. I noticed QVC are doing an offer of 3 for £18.75 if you’re interested…(http://www.qvcuk.com/Seche-Vite-Top-Coat-Duo-%26-Clear-Base-Coat.product.202634.html?sc=202634-DRIL&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-22-_-202634) I have no idea why that link is so long sorry…unfortunately i don’t know how to integrate a link into text haha so if anyone can tell me i’d be really grateful!  I got mine for the brilliant price of £6.In case you’ve never seen it before…

Image

I don’t actually own a base coat so to go with this i also picked up the Seche Ridge Filling Base Coat. There were so many different types of base coats that i was a bit bamboozled when it came to picking one! I finally decided on the ridge filling one as i find  i sometimes get ridges etc in my nails that affect the way nail polish looks when applied, so this one just seemed perfect. I’m curious to see what difference using a base coat makes and whether this one actually does what it says. We shall see! Image:

Image

A few days later, in despair after breaking nearly all of my nails and the fact that the surface of the tips seemed to always ‘scratch’ i decided it was time i bought a nail treatment. My nails always get a certain length and then they just stop growing, seriously! This isn’t a particularly long length either and i’d like for them to be a bit longer really. I’ve started taking a biotin based supplement too, so hopefully the use of these together will help my nails grow back fast, strengthen them and stop them from breaking and chipping! I picked up the Dry and Brittle OPI Nail Envy. I decided to go with Nail Envy as so many people say that it works and i really trust OPI for their nail care. I got the Dry and Brittle one as no matter how much hand cream or cuticle oil i apply my nails are always very dry looking ( however my cuticles are very happy indeed 🙂 ) so i’m hoping this will add moisture and strengthen them considerably. If you’re considering buying this bear in mind it’s quite expensive…the cheapest i found this was at £11 and some salons charge up to £18. Tonight when i face removing my entirely glitter based nail polish ( filled with dread and anxiety…and armed with a roll of tin foil) i think i will start the treatment. Which will involve no nail polish ( other than the nail envy of course) for two weeks! I may have withdrawals and eventually crack under the pressure of it all. I can barely stand to go a few hours without nail polish and rarely leave the house without any on. It is to me, the same as make up is for a lot of girls…( although i try not to go out without make up anymore either). In about two weeks time i will post a review and describe how it went with any changes to my nails! Really hoping this works…

Image

You can also get Nail Envy in: Matte, Original, Soft and Thin, Sensitive and Peeling and Maintenance.

I found all of these items on ebay and if you look around you can get them at pretty good prices. A lot of high end beauty stores online stock these, however you’re unlikely to find them in Boots or Superdrug.

I scream, you scream we all scream for ice cream  nail mail !

UK Indie Brands

First of all i would like to thank Cazzy at Special Girl Nails for helping me find some of these! Check out her blog here: http://specialgirlnails.blogspot.co.uk/

Unfortunately due to the lack of supplies and opportunities to make nail polish, there is a very small number of UK indie polish brands which makes me sad…us Brits love our indie polish just as much as our American and Australian counter parts. For us, however these polishes are more of a treat or a luxury as we have to ship them in from other countries with shipping costing anywhere up to £10 for a single polish.

I think it’s really important we support British polish creators as they are few and far between and we rely on them for our indie polish fix! Shown below are all the indie polish brands situated in the UK i am aware of, if you find anymore PLEASE let me know!

Image

Clowning Around by Taras Talons

The first indie brand in the UK i ever heard of was Taras Talons, honestly i can’t remember how i came across Tara but i am glad i did. Taras Talons is probably the largest indie polish brand in the UK at the moment and is relatively small compared to a lot of American brands!

‘Tarastalons is a UK based indie nail polish and nail art creator shipping worldwide! All nails are hand designed and all polish is handmade and limited edition, with a maximum of ten polishes of each shade being made and more often only one of each shade being made!’

The fact that SO few polishes of each kind are created makes buying from Tara such a special experience. You know that nobody else in the world has the same polish as you, so it is truly unique. The most of any polish created i believe is ten. Tara introduces collections on a really frequent basis and has a huge variety of different shades and glitters. I think there is something for everyone. I decided to use ‘Clowning Around’ as a representative image of Taras Talons as it is one of-if not- the most popular shades in her store.

A massive thank you with hugs to Tara Clapperton for her beautiful store.

Pea Soup by Iconic Effect

I don’t know a huge amount about Iconic Effect other than the fact that the glitters in their polishes are to die for! These are the sort of shades we expect to find the US as they are so unique and beautiful. At £6.50 a bottle the price is very reasonable and i can see myself picking up one or two of these polishes. It’s so nice to buy an indie polish and not have to wait a month for it to arrive! I also noted that this is a relatively new brand, opening their store just this month, already with a pretty decent amount of sales! I see big things for this indie brand and can’t wait to see what else they come up with!

Image

When i’m old i shall wear purple by Pretty Little Nails

This is a brand i know even less about! I can only comment on what i see in their store and i think this indie polish creator delivers so beautiful sparkly polishes! I’m excited to see what else shop owner Amelia comes up with!

Etsy Store: http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/prettylittlenails

There is only one other indie brand in the UK that i have heard of, and that is Pocket Money Polishes who can be found here: http://www.tbeanz.com/PMP/

I hope that together with Cazzy i have helped you find some brands in your own country that you weren’t aware of and fall in love with!

Lush Handmade Cosmetics Product Review

Image

Hello ladies ( and gentleman- lets not discriminate!) i’m a huge fan of lush and order a box of goodies very month or so. Some are things i know and love and others are things i love the look of and want to try out. I am yet to be disappointed by any lush product and as an organic product loving Vegetarian, Lush is right up my alley!

Image

Today i’m going to show you what i bought in June and review the products. Unfortunately i used them all up so darn quickly i have no photos to share with you. Also my camera i broken…So happy days! Within 2 weeks almost everything had been greedily used up by me! Here is what i bought:

  • Think Pink Bath Bomb RRP: £2.50 ea
  • Creamy Candy Bubble Bar RRP: £2.50 ea
  • Mmmelting Marshmallow Moment Luxury Bath Melt RRP: £3.85
  • Rock Star Soap RRP: £3.40 ( per 100g)
  • Bubblegum Lip Scrub RRP: £5.25

These are all very pink items! I like very girly scents which generally come in pink packaging-go figure. But luckily i love pink so no biggie. After two weeks everything bar the Lip Scrub and Soap had been used. These are both my favourite items from what i purchased so i am very pleased, perhaps these are my favourite as i had more time to enjoy them? I don’t know. Anyway! Moving on swiftly…first to be reviewed ( with appropriate company images) is the ‘Think Pink’ Bath Bomb.

Image

Think Pink Bath Bomb

This is what Lush says about the product:

‘Mark was so pleased with himself when he hit on this combination of tonka and vanilla absolutes – he thinks this smell is like a great big reassuring hug!’

In case you’re wondering who ‘Mark’ is, he’s the lush-er that created the product 🙂

What i say about this product:

I think Lush paid great attention to detail with this bath bomb, it’s actually one of the cheapest ones on their website but it certainly doesn’t skimp on quality. It turns your bath a bright neon pink (leaning towards purple) and smells lovely and girly! I have no idea what Tonka is so i can’t comment on whether or not it smells ‘Tonka-like’ ( made up word courtesy of my insanity…) but there is definetely a sweet scent of vanilla. More of an artificial vanilla than a vanilla pod scent which is strange as it’s not artificial at all! But then again i can’t say i’ve really smelt that many vanilla pods…enough of my rambling (again).

Would i recommend this product?: Yes

I give this product a straight A in all categories bar value for money, £2.50 is one expensive bath!

Order the ‘Think Pink’ bath bomb here: https://www.lush.co.uk/product/428/Think-Pink-Bath-Bomb

Image

Creamy Candy Bubble Bar

This is what Lush says about the product:

‘A sweet creamy candy-floss pink bath that’s like a hug in a soft fluffy towel. This one is a girly night in. Makes you want to put on your cutest jammies, bounce on the bed and have a pillow fight. For those who know that youth and innocent glee are things never to be left behind. ‘

What i say about this product:

I actually really liked this product as an eco friendly alternative to the huge bottle of bubble bath i usually buy. However this is more expensive….and nicer…and more natural…hence the price. Therefore Lush are forgiven for charging £2.50. If you want a huge bath full of bubbles like this product suggests use the whole thing! If you want to eek it out like i did it still creates enough bubbles for one bath when broken into 5 pieces. So for a week of baths £2.50 isn’t bad. I had two of these so they lasted around 2 weeks. I’ll probably pick up a few more in my next visit to lush as the smell is incredible. It fills the whole house with a sweet ‘creamy candy’ scent so the name i perfect. I found the smell to linger on my body for hours after also.

Would i recommend this product? Yes

I give this product an A in all categories as i think it smells much nicer than liquid bubble bath and made me feel like i was doing my bit for the environment.

You can order the ‘Creamy Candy’ bubble bar here: https://www.lush.co.uk/product/103/Creamy-Candy-Bubble-Bar

Image

Mmmelting Marshmallow Moment Luxury Bath Melt

What Lush says about this product:

‘Great for dry skin, as the almond oil and cocoa butter will leave your skin silky smmmooth. Also the chamomile, marigold and marshmallow all help to calm irritated or delicate skin types.’

What i think about this product:

I disagree with Lush’s statement that it is great for dry skin. I get patches of dry skin on my legs and this made no difference whatsoever…neither did my skin feel silky and soft. Clean, yes. It left a kind of creamy residue on the top of the bath and smelt quite nice but i think this product is pretty unforgettable to be honest. And £3.85 for ONE…that’s ONE… bath is ridiculous. Unless you’re royalty you’ll doubtfully be able to afford a bath with this in every night….once a week perhaps. ( Still about £15 a month…for that money each month you can get a Glossybox or Birchbox…or a couple of great indie polishes!)

Would i recommend this product?: No

Fails in pretty much every category, a bit of a waste of money in my opinion.

Image

Rockstar Soap

What Lush says about this product:

‘All the joy of a stick of seaside rock, but kinder on the hips. We do like to be beside the seaside with this sweet smelling creamy lather’

What i say about this product:

Probably my favourite bar of soap ever. In fact this is the greatest soap in the history of soap. Seriously, it’s amazing! It smells exactly the ‘Creamy Candy’ bar i used with it. As i said i get dry patches on my legs and was half expecting for this to cause them to flare up but it didn’t! A lot of soaps can be really drying but i was pleasantly surprised to find that this one wasn’t. It lathers really nicely and this has lasted a whole month- if i was using shower gel i would be using about a bottle a week at about £2.50 so this is more cost effective and smells nicer! I am considering getting a shower gel to go with it though just to prevent dryness.

Would i recommend this product?: Yes!!

A*’s in every category…it’s a must have for my bathroom shelf!

Buy ‘Rockstar’ soap here:https://www.lush.co.uk/product/334/100g-SMALL-Rock-Star-Soap

Image

Bubblegum Lip Scrub

What Lush says about this product:

‘The pink all things girly, bubblegum flavour lip scrub.Clears dead skin and flakiness from lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth.’

What i say about this product:

It definetely does what it claims! It does absolute wonders for your lips, especially if you get quite dry flaky lips. It is bubblegum scented and flavoured and tastes divine. Everyone keeps stealing it from me and threatening to eat it! I use this about once or twice a day and then apply lip balm and it’s definetely improved the overall softness and appearance of my lips. It seems to last for ever as well, i’m only half way through so would say this product lasts a good 2 months. This is one of those beauty products that i carry everywhere.

Would i recommend this? Yes!!

Another A* here…brilliant lip scrub which has become a staple for me!

I hope i have helped some of you in your lush buying and decision making, let me know what you think! I read and reply to all comments.

Current Indie Favourites #1 Digital Nails

I thought i would show you guys in Installments my favourite indie brands. Starting with Digital Nails!

Digital Nails is described by owner Raphaelle Yax as ‘Geek chic boutique Nail Lacquer hand made in Austin, TX’ and i couldn’t agree more! All of these polishes are based on some sort of pop culture or science/math, with Raphaelle saying in her shop announced that ‘I draw inspiration from all things geeky – science fiction tv shows, comic books, cartoons, video games, etc.’. This eclectic inspiration makes for super fun and cheerful lacquers with witty names. Unlike a like of brands, Digital Nails provides unique colour and glitter mixes you will not find anywhere else. Here are some polishes by Digital Nails:

Pandorica inspired by Doctor Who

Product Description by Digital Nails:

Pandorica is a black jelly polish with more spectraflair linear holographic pigment than you can shake a stick at. It doesn’t even need sunshine to scream OMG RAINBOWS, and those bad boys will pop out even in dim indoor lighting.Pandorica is inspired by the boy who waited, Rory Williams. The thing I love most about Rory is is unfaltering loyalty, and this polish was inspired by the episode(s)where he sat in front of the Pandorica, gaurding it for 2000 years while Amy was trapped inside. That’s some serious love, you guys.
Whether you’re a Whovian, like myself or just a fan of the crazypants glitters, this polish is positively perfect for any occasion, particularly if a handsome young man with two hearts and a penchant for saving the universe happens to ask you to come along and step into his bigger-on-the-inside blue police box. Hello, Sweetie!

You can find a ton of other Doctor Who inspired polishes in the Digital Nails etsy store including: Run, You Clever Boy, Ultimate Ginger, Bad Wolf, Timey Wimey, Oh,Fionna( i recommend), So Disco,Super Temp,Hello Sweetie,Petrichor and Wibbly Wobbly. Yep that is one Doctor Who fan girl! There are also a few more Doctor Who inspired polishes which are out of stock including Expelliarmus!( which could also count as a HP inspired polish).

Product Description by Digital Nails:

Hello fellow space geeks!I have for you the most holo-glitter-tastic green polish that ever existed in the history of ever. All hyperbole aside, this is one GREEN SPARKLY POLISH. And, even better, it is a terrible pun based on one of my favorite people.deGrasse’s greener is a terrible play on words, and also an homage to one of my very favorite humans ever, Neil deGrasse Tyson. NdGT is an American astrophysicist and also a very effective Science Communicator. What the crap is a Science Communicator, you ask? A Science Communicator is a person who actively engages the general public on the topic of science. NdGT does this in many ways, hosting space themed television shows, touring and lecturing, writing books, and generally keeping us all informed and entertained at the same time via his Twitter account.

As far as i know this is Digital Nails’ only Science inspired polish. From what i’ve seen of her store she generally focuses on nerdy TV and Film including but limited to Star Wars, Adventure Time, Game of Thrones,My Little Pony,Arrested Development and The Fifth Element.

Dark Labyrinth a Math inspired polish

Image

Macro Shot

Swatch by Digital Nails

Product Description by Digital Nails:

Hello science & math enthusiasts and polish lovers! I am pleased to introduce Dark Labyrinth. This polish was inspired by an awesome quote about the importance of the language of mathematics by Italian physicist, mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher Galileo Galilei. The Dark Labyrinth is represented here in a black jelly base loaded with black stars, black hex glitters, and 3mm black circle glitters. It also features tons of silky teal glitters, plus neon pink hexes in two sizes, and neon green hexes and stars. The concept is that the blackness of the jelly base upon layering, will obscure the shapes of the bright colors underneath, representing all that human kind knows about our universe. Some things are very clear, some are partially clear, and lots are obscured by this Dark Labyrinth of which he spoke. This also conceptually stresses the importance of math and the sciences, and is my way of spreading my love of them.

Raphaelle also has several other Math inspired polishes in her etsy store inluding: Fibonnaci Sequins and The Golden Mean.

I myself can be a little geeky at times! I would consider myself a fan girl of Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Tim Burton and 80’s Horror Movies. For someone incredibly girly these seem like strange interests! I would be super excited if Raphaelle brought out some BtVS inspired polishes but i have no idea if she is even into the show! ( which finsished production 10 years ago.)

In case you’re Wondering what Polishes i own by Digital Nails here they are ( so far…ominous elipsis):

Harry <3’s Ginny ( couldn’t resist a HP polish!)

Hipster in a Blender

Oh,Fionna ( not a whovian but this is gorgeous)

( check my wishlist for all the Digital Nails polishes i’m currently stalking)

Raphaelle at Digital Nails is a brilliant and responsive seller, so you should feel no worry or stress when it comes to ordering from her! She is very friendly and beautifully packages all items and even includes cute little freebies!

Happy Shopping and thanks to Raphaelle Yax for producing some of my favourite ever polishes!

Oopsie Daises Nails

Today i want to share with you an indie brand i find it hard to believe that i haven’t shown you guys already! Oopsie Daises Nails are one of those brands that has something for everyone. Their polishes come in every colour of the rainbow! These are all very wearable shades, with a few that i would consider to be office friendly. Here is what i’m loving:

Image

Bluebird

I really love this polish as i think it’s a perfect duck egg blue, it reminds me of speckled egg shells and whilst a lot of indie polishes can be similar to one another i think this is one of a kind.

I love all of the pastel glitters in this one, if you’re a regular reader of my blog then you will know i love anything pastel, bright or neon and this one ticks two out of three boxes.
